Causes of various discharges in men: what is the norm, what is the pathology

There are a small number of women who know that men also experience defecation. As in women, in men it also occurs normally and is odorless. Only in women it is called "whiteness" and they emerge from the vagina, while in men it flows from the urethra. Of course, any pathological discharge indicates poor health and requires a visit to the doctor.

Physiological release

The health of a man is evidenced by the physiological discharge from the urethral outlet, which is observed in the following cases:

Libidous or physiological urethrorrhea

This condition is observed when a transparent discharge appears during sexual arousal or in the morning, immediately after sleep. Their number in different men varies and is directly related to the level of sexual arousal. But in any case, it is important to remember that such a discharge, when aroused, contains a small amount of sperm, so if they get into the genitals of a partner, she is at risk of getting pregnant. The function of the described secretions is to ensure the passage of spermatozoa through the urethra and vagina of women, where there is an acidic environment that damages the "gums", and makes them in a shape fit into the uterine cavity and tubes for egg fertilization.

Damaged prostatorrhea

During an increase in intra-abdominal pressure (when straining), a transparent odorless discharge with the possibility of a grayish white line may appear on the head of the penis. Such a discharge is viscous and consists of a mixture of prostate secretions and seminal vesicles. Such a discharge can appear at the end of urination, in which case they are talking about vocal prostatorrhea. In exceptional cases, such a discharge appears with a strong cough. They are not considered organic pathologies, but only indicate a violation of the autonomic regulation of genital organ function.

Smegma

the man thinks about the discharge when aroused

Smegma (preputial lubrication) is a secretion consisting of secretions from the sebaceous glands at the head of the penis and foreskin. Usually, if a man adheres to the rules of personal hygiene, such disposal does not pose difficulties, because it is mechanically washed with water. But if hygiene is neglected, smegma accumulates, and microorganisms multiply in it, which serves as a source of unpleasant odors.

Isolation of sperm

Sperm, which contains large amounts of sperm, is usually secreted during ejaculation (ejaculation) at the end of intercourse or spontaneously, during sleep (wet dreams). Pollution occurs in adolescent boys and occurs either several times a month or 1 to 3 weeks (hormonal changes).

In some cases, spermatorrhea, i. e. the outflow of sperm from the urethra without sexual intercourse and orgasm, indicates pathology when the tone of the muscular layer of the vas deferens is disturbed in the presence of chronic inflammation or brain disease.

Pathological discharge

All other secretions that go beyond physiology are pathological and show primarily urethral inflammation or urethritis. The causes of urethritis in men are different, it can be contagious and non -contagious.

Infectious causes are divided into specific and nonspecific.

  • Specific etiological factors include venereal diseases such as trichomoniasis.
  • Nonspecific infectious urethritis caused by opportunistic bacteria, viruses and fungi:
    • chlamydial urethritis;
    • ureaplasma and mycoplasma urethritis;
    • candidal urethritis or urogenital candidiasis in men;
    • herpetic urethritis and others (Escherichia coli, streptococci, staphylococci).

Non -infectious inflammatory factors include:

  • allergic reactions
  • mechanical damage to the urethral mucosa
  • urethral irritation with chemicals
  • trauma, narrowing of the urethra.

Male relief can vary in transparency and color. These parameters are influenced by the intensity of the inflammatory process, its degree and etiological factors. Secretions are formed from fluid, mucus, and various cells.

  • Cloudy - if there are a large number of cells, then the discharge has a cloudy color.
  • Gray or thick - with a predominance of epithelial cells in the secretions, they become gray and thick.
  • Yellow, green or yellow -green - when a large number of leukocytes are contained in the secretions, they become yellow and even green in color, they are also called purulent secretions.

It should be noted that with the same pathology, the nature of the discharge changes over time.

White discharge

Whiteness in men is caused by several reasons. First of all, candidiasis should be excluded. With this disease, the following symptoms are observed:

  • the head of the penis smells unpleasant from sour bread or yeast;
  • the head of the penis is covered with a layer of whiteness;
  • itching, burning and even pain in the penis and in the perineal area were observed;
  • whiteness appears during urination;
  • there are reddish spots (irritation, inflammation) on the head and inner surface of the foreskin;
  • there is pain during coitus, discomfort is felt in the head and foreskin;
  • white discharge is observed, not only during urination;
  • the couple complained of itching and burning, pain during intercourse, experiencing vaginal discharge.

In addition to urogenital candidiasis, white discharge can be caused by chlamydia and / or ureaplasmosis and mycoplasmosis, and also speaks of inflammation of the prostate gland, which is characterized by:

  • Difficulty and intermittent urination
  • burning sensation in the perineum and urethra;
  • discomfort during defecation;
  • frequent urination;
  • sexual disorders (decreased libido and erection, rapid ejaculation, blurred orgasm).

It is important for men to remember that neglected prostatitis can not only lead to persistent erectile dysfunction, but also to infertility.

Transparent choice

  • Chlamydia, ureaplasmosis - removal of transparent mucus is possible with chlamydial urethritis or ureaplasma in the chronic stage of the disease. With the deteriorating process, the number of leukocytes in the secretions increases, and they acquire a greenish or yellowish color.
  • Trichomoniasis, gonorrhea - also transparent, copious discharge with a lot of mucus, which is observed during the day, may occur in the early stages of infection with Trichomonas or gonococci. In the case of chlamydia (ureaplasmosis), subjective sensations are often absent (pain, itching, burning), and a transparent discharge appears after prolonged abstinence from urination.

Yellow discharge

Purulent discharge, which includes decompressed urethral epithelium, large numbers of leukocytes and urethral mucus, yellowish or greenish in color. Yellow or mixed with greenish discharge is a hallmark of venereal disease.

  • Gonorrhea - the discharge is thick and has an unpleasant foul odor, is observed during the day and is accompanied by pain when urinating. A man should first think of a gonorrhea infection if there are classic symptoms: whiteness and itching.
  • Trichomoniasis - also with yellow discharge, trichomoniasis is not excluded, although often asymptomatic. With severe symptoms of Trichomonas infection, in addition to pus -like discharge, a man worries of burning and stinging during urination, frequent and irresistible urge to urinate, a heavy feeling in the lower abdomen and discomfort in the perineum.

Release with the smell

Hygiene violations

Unpleasant odor of the perineum and penis, in particular, can be observed if the state of intimate hygiene is not followed:

  • Smegma is an excellent breeding ground for microorganisms, which, multiplying and dying, give off an unpleasant odor if you do not wash the external genitalia regularly.
  • In addition, smegma itself can have an unpleasant odor in the event of a metabolic disorder (e. g. , diabetes mellitus in men). At the same time, the release of smegma is so strong that it seeps into the panties.

Infection

Discharge with odor is most often observed with infectious urethral lesions. First of all, gonorrheal urethritis must be excluded - thick, yellow or green discharge is observed throughout the day.

The sour smell that comes out is a pathognomic symptom of urogenital candidiasis. Infection with fungi of the genus Candida gives rise to the appearance of whitish or milky white.

Suspicious secretory odors may also occur, which are attached to gardnerellosis, which is more characteristic of women (called bacterial vaginosis), and in men, the development of the disease is somewhat absurd. Gardnerella belongs to the conditionally pathogenic microorganisms and begins to reproduce actively only under certain conditions:

  • weakened immunity;
  • the corresponding inflammatory process of the genitourinary organs;
  • intestinal dysbiosis;
  • use of condoms with spermicides;
  • long -term treatment with antibiotics or immunosuppressants (cytostatics, corticosteroids);
  • tight underwear made of synthetic fabric;
  • a vibrant sex life.

Also, discharge with an unpleasant odor can be caused by diseases such as:

  • balanitis (inflammation of the head of the penis)
  • balanoposthitis (inflammation of the inner surface of the foreskin).

But in addition to discharge (not from the urethra, but smegma), the disease is accompanied by hyperemia and itching, pain in the penis, and boils and wrinkles are found on the head.

Discharge with blood

Infection

Bleeding or discharge with blood flow is often observed with infectious urethral lesions. Mixed blood is a hallmark of gonorrheal, Trichomonas or candidal urethritis. Moreover, blood volume is directly related to the intensity of inflammation.

Often, blood is observed in chronic urethritis (the mucous membrane of the urethra is loosened and responds with touch bleeding at the slightest irritation, including the urinary tract through the ducts).

Medical manipulation

Another reason for this is trauma to the urethra during medical procedures. In the event of rough hygiene, catheter insertion and removal, cystoscopy, or smear retrieval, spots can occur all at once. They were different because the blood was red, had no clots, and the bleeding itself quickly stopped.

Stone path, sand

Among other things, bloody discharge can be seen when small stones or sand (from the kidneys or bladder) pass through the urethra. The hard microlite surface damages the mucous membranes and vascular walls, causing bleeding. In this case, blood is most noticeable when urinating, accompanied by pain.

Glomerulonephritis

Gross hematuria (blood in the urine, visible during urination) may also occur when there is glomerulonephritis. In this case, there are three symptoms: gross hematuria, edema, increased blood pressure.

Malignant tumor

One of the signs of a malignant tumor of the genitourinary system (cancer of the prostate gland, penis, testicles etc. ) is the appearance of blood in a man. In this case, the blood will be brown or dark in color, and clots may appear.

Isolation of blood with semen

We must not forget symptoms such as the discharge of blood with sperm (hematospermia). Distinguish between false and true hematospermia. When fake, blood is mixed with semen as it flows through the urethra. And with real blood entering the ejaculate even before it passes through the urethra. Hematospermia is accompanied by the following symptoms:

  • pain during ejaculation;
  • urinary disorders;
  • pain and / or swelling of the genitals (testicles and scrotum);
  • discomfort and pain in the lower back;
  • increased body temperature.

One of the causes of hematospermia is:

  • an overactive sex life or vice versa,
  • prolonged sexual abstinence, while during intercourse there is a rupture of the vascular wall in the tissues of the genitals
  • previous surgery or biopsy can also cause blood to appear in the semen
  • hematospermia appears in benign and malignant neoplasms of the genitourinary organs
  • in the presence of stones in the testis and vas deferens
  • with varicose veins of the pelvic organs.
